Amish Bread

6 ingredients to make the best tasting white bread you will ever have. Makes 1 loaf

The BEST Homemade Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup + 2 Tablespoons water

  • ¼ cup white sugar

  • 1 teaspoon yeast

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ cup canola oil


Directions:


1. In a liquid measuring cup, combine the water and some of the sugar together (about 1 Tablespoon). Heat water mixture to 110-120°F (I microwave for about 30 seconds).


2. Add the yeast to the sugar water and stir briefly; let sit without stirring for 10-15 minutes to allow the yeast to bloom and foam. (NOTE: If the yeast doesn't foam, that means it is likely dead and you should start over with a new packet)


3. In your bread making machine, select the "KNEAD" and "FIRST RISE" cycle. Add the reamining sugar, flour, salt, canola oil, and yeast mixture into the machine. Press "START" and wait until the cycle finishes (approx 1.5 hours).


4. Once the first rise cycle has completed, open the lid and punch down the dough. Let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes with the lid shut.


5. Place your dough in a greased loaf pan, making sure to press down and release any bubbles. Cover with plastic wrap and allow the dough to double in size, approximately 30-45 minutes.


6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Remove plastic, then bake for 25 minutes.


7. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove the bread from the pan to fully cool. Enjoy by itself, with butter and jelly, or as sandwich bread.
